The RMAF 2009 Weinhart Design Mini Review


The Rocky Mountain Audio Fest always holds a special place for me as more intimate audio event each year; relaxing and not over crowded. While this year attendence was off a touch it was still a great show. I had the opportunity to see new products and speak to a lot of friends in the industry. The up side is the wonderful people who show their products and the people who attend the show, reviewers, designers, manufactures, Audio & Video companies, LP & Digital Music vendors and a large group of well seasoned Audiophiles.

This year they had a whole separate area for headphones and the headphone market is incredibly thriving with Reference products for virtually any need. I was very impressed with the various headphones from Grado, Sennheiser, Ultrasound and in Ear from JH Audio. We are looking into Reference on Ear options and planning to offer more Headphones to our clientele.

  EAR Room David Weinhart with Dan Meinwald EAR's importer with the EAR 912 pre amp with two phono inputs and the best sound I've heard regardless of price only $11,000 , 890 amplifier also my favorite tube amp only $7,295 and their matching ACUTE CD Player $5,895 in Chrome. All available in my Showroom. If you haven't heard the EAR products you should do yourself a favor and make it a point to hear them for your self. The EAR products have stolen my heart and are as good as it gets!
 
 

The Hegel Music Systems Room. This was a real surprise to hear the Dali Euphonia MS-4 speakers a real value at $11,500 (a Weinhart Design long time favorite) was one of the best sounds at the show in a small untreated hotel room where Ben Gosvig, the US Sales Manager and good personal friend was showing the Hegel Electronics. All I can say is I was blown away with the texture and control Hegel delivered and who knows... maybe you will find their products at Weinhart Design. Certainly the Hegel H-200 Integrated Amplifier (top Shelf) a 200 watt integrated amplifier at $4,400 represents a real value.

The PS Audio Perfect Wave DAC and Transport are by far the greatest deal in todays Digital two channel music playback and their products were in a lot of the rooms at Rocky Mountain and the playback quality could always be heard.
