	A message from, Garth Leerer, the President of Musical Surroundings: Synapse line preamplifier $30,000 Partner for the new Pathos Adrenalin amplifier, this two chassis balanced stereo tube preamplifier uses modern and classic technology for state-of-the-art audio reproduction and industrial design. Handmade in Italy, the Synapse preamplifier embodies 17 years of Pathos electronic and industrial design. Pathos industrial designer, Paolo Andriolo, is very active in the modern Italian and Japanese design schools. For the Synapse, Andriolo used the mathematical principles of modern origami design as espoused by many including Robert Lang of MIT and found in cutting edge furniture design and architecture. The inherent strength of the Synapse design eliminates unwanted mechanical energy for the high resolution audio circuitry. Dual chassis , 2 channel audio line preamplifier with zero feedback and entirely dual mono audio circuitry, the Synapse combines thoroughly modern engineering with optically coupled 168 step volume control and sophisticated logic switching complemented by dual triode 6H30 vacuum tubes. One chassis houses only the audio circuitry while the second chassis houses all power supply and control circuitry including fluorescent display. The audio circuit housed in the upper chassis is a hybrid differential dual mono line stage with dual transistors, triode vacuum tubes and MOSFETS, direct coupled and operating in pure Class A. The lower chassis houses a switching power supply more resembling a power amplifier. All machining and assembly is performed in the Pathos factory located in Vincenza, Italy, located 1 hour from Venice. The unique chassis is fabricated in the lower floor of the Pathos factory, isolating, much like the preamp itself, this process from the delicate circuit assembly. The second floor of the factory is where te hand assembled circuit boards are manufactured as well as unit assembly and testing. Adrenalin mono power amps $50,000/pr The Adrenalin is a monoblock balanced amplifier with double INPOL® circuit, pure Class A operation and zero feedback. It produces 200 watts into 8 ohms with vanishingly low distortion and incredible speed and punch. The Adrenalin is the pinnacle of the INPOL® circuit, in Italian “Insegultore a Pompa Lineare”, translated as the Linear Pump Tracker. It is in fact a double INPOL® configuration, being intrinsically balanced from input to output. The INPOL® circuit has been incorporated into a number of lower powered Pathos components over the past 16 years but the challenge was how to create a true high powered INPOL® amplifier. The answer was found in the ingenious and aesthetically pleasing logo heatsink, badging the amplifier with the company name and providing maximum surface to air contact to dissipate heat. In designing the INPOL® technology, pathos electrical engineer Gianni Borinato created a more efficient Class A output stage married to a tube input stage. Each stage is optimized for its role and supported by extensive power supplies. Typically, a design of this nature resembles a small refrigerator or industrial generator, not pleasing in the home environment. This is where industrial designer Paolo Andriolo steps in, not only to realize the potential of the high powered INPOL® circuit, but to create an architectural quality. A true form follows function design, the Adrenalin amplifier “tower” elevates audio components to a new height. The extruded Pathos logo heatsinks are not only the most unique “badging” of a product, but serve the practical function of maximizing surface to air contact of the amplifier’s output stage. This allows the ultimate realization of the INPOL technology, the patented Pathos Class A circuit. In fact, the Pathos logo heatsinks are mirror imaged, reflecting the fact that this is actually a double INPOL® design, a true balanced amplifier front to back. The front of the amplifier utilizes the “modern origami” technique assuring structural rigidity and freedom from mechanical vibration, critical for the delicate low level tube input stage.
